If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, you can sponsor your family. You must be over the age of 18, have the necessary income, and are ready to provide for their basic needs.

TO WHOME YOU CAN SPONSOR:

• Parents, Grand parents, adopted children.
   
• Brother or sister, nephew, niece, grandchildren only those who are under 18 and not married.
   
• You can sponsor siblings who are over 22 years old and are studying at a university, even though they are financially dependent on their parents.

If you are in default of your previous sponsorship, you can't sponsor your relatives. You can only sponsor convicted criminals, sexual offenders, and those who have been deported.

The first step in sponsoring a family is to make an application in Canada. After that, an immigration application must be submitted to the visa office in another country.
